A Comparison Through the Decades
"The investigation of the image of women in film begins with the rather commonsensical notion that the recurring images of women in popular media may have some influence on how people think of women in real life." (1). |
This website shows a comparison of women's roles in film starting in the 1920's up to the present day. It explores how women as scientists and medical professionals were and are portrayed on the big screen, as well as historical evidence of women's rights during that particular time period. The focus is primarily on American films, but a small exploration of women's roles in foreign films is discussed in the final tab of the website.
"The ways of representing women in popular media in some ways influences or reinforces the way real women may be constructed"(2). |
